AMY ANNELLE/THE PLACES

Some From the Stream (AMY ANNELLE/THE PLACES) - limited edition tour CD

(2008) Tour Compilation. CD with handmade packaging. Selections from all albums plus several unreleased home recordings and rare covers.

"Under her own name and as the Places, the powerfully affecting songwriter Amy Annelle has quietly put together a body of work that rates with anything you (or anybody) would call 'Americana'. Ghosts and the living mingle in her songs, as well as a multitude of choice covers, and few artists get closer to the ineffable essence of this land of ours in all its great and awful beauty" Mike Wolf, TimeOut NY

TRACK LISTING: Let's Face the Music and Dance (Irving Berlin) | Wings of Green | Such As the Earth | The Natural Arc | I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (Hank Williams--duet with Michael Hurley) | Ugly Stray | Idaho | For the Turnstiles (Neil Young) | Clean Starts | Birds Are Waking | No Name #3 (Elliot Smth) | The Projectionist | Ode to the Exhausted | Too Much On My Mind (Ray Davies) |

Songs For Creeps (THE PLACES) - handmade CDR reissue

(2006) album art by E*Rock.
Billboard Magazine Critic's Choice/Top Ten Albums of 2006

"A starkly beautiful collection of dark avant-folk wanderings that can be eerily quiet and breathtaking"--Peter Linblad, Goldmine Magazine
"Conventionally this record might be folk, psychadelic, avant-pop--more or less undefinable--but most of all it's got a grip on the sprawling, strange, optimistic, terrifying feel of open-road America."~~David Snyder, IndieFolkForever

TRACK LISTING: Miners Lie! | Blessed Speed | The Lion's Share | My Weary Eye | Mercy Me | Gold to Green | The Damn Insane Asylum | The Natural Arc | I'm A-Gone Down to the Green Fields | Such As the Earth (Neveroff's Fate) | Worse & Wise

FAWNS WITH FANGS: Selections From the Dark Heart of the Thicket (THE PLACES) - CDR in handmade gatefold sleeve w/ booklet

(2005)found album art by Amy Annelle.

...not the usual premeditated studio covers album: it's more of an accidental self-portrait, drawn from a wealth of live recordings and home 4-track sessions. The album digs deep into the hallowed underground of British and American folk and psychedelic rock--with a few wild cards mixed in. "...The Places' new ragtag covers album, featuring tortured and time-stopping versions of songs by Michael Hurley, Bob Dylan, Bert Jansch, Elliott Smith, and more" (Dave Heaton, Erasing Clouds)

TRACK LISTING: Just a Bum (Michael Hurley) | Sickle Clowns (Pretty Things) | One Morning in May (traditional) | Friends (Led Zeppelin) | Half Right (Heatmiser) | Big Log (Robert Plant) | Late Night (Syd Barrett) | It's All Over Now, Baby Blue (Bob Dylan) | Deed I Do (Bert Jansch) | Anymore For Anymore (Ronnie Lane) | Another Sleep Song (Graham Nash) | Don't Sing Love Songs (Silver Dagger) (traditional | No Name #3 (Elliot Smith) ||| bonus tracks: Bron-Y-Aur Stomp (Led Zeppelin) | I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (Hank Williams, duet with Michael Hurley) | Don't Think Twice, It's Alright (Bob Dylan)

Call It Sleep (THE PLACES) - Handmade CDR Reissue

TRACK LISTING: Dead Reckoning | Birds Are Waking | What I Wouldn't Do For You | Travel Light | Clean Starts | Ruined New Life | Program Ten (Bill Holdt) | 'Til the Death

A School of Secret Dangers (AMY ANNELLE) - Handmade CDR Reissue

(2001) Album art by Amy Annelle.
Self-recorded on 4 track cassette.

"A School of Secret Dangers is the bar at which modern singer-songwriters should measure up to... tight recording stripped down to the bare essentials and somehow managing to sound whole in every way." (Alex Steininger, In Music We Trust)

TRACK LISTING: The Birds Start Talking English | Broke Down | Ugly Stray | Will Try | Anchorage | Soft City | Idaho | Love Song For a Comet | Litch | Nothing | What Is It This Time?

The Autopilot Knows You Best (THE PLACES) - Handmade CDR Reissue

TRACK LISTING: Own Your Own Home | Lazy Days & Castaways | The Projectionist | Mission Impossible | Mouth To Mouth | Will Try | No Mystery | Ships at Sea | Ode to the Exhausted | Love Song For a Comet | Late Night (Syd Barrett)
